Services offered by the Council

The Council provides a range of services to its affiliate's members as well as the public.

Library

A reference a borrowing library is available at Harambee House, The Garrison, offering from novels to medical reference books and a range of audio books and videos. You can search the library online and reserve a title.

 

Accessible Transportation

The Council offered the first bus service of its kind for wheelchair users in Barbados. A very busy school bus operates Monday to Friday as well as a general service. Telephone us at 427-8136 to book your ride. It is available to the public at an affordable cost.

Rehab Therapy

The Council's Rehab Specialist provides treatment to members of the Council's affiliates either at Harambee House headquarters at The Garrison or, under certain circumstances, at home.

Braille translation

We translate menus, notices, signs, and all other documents into Braille. It is the only Braille translation service in Barbados. 

Directory of services available to residents and visitors

We provide an online version of our directory of all services available to residents and visitors with disabilities in Barbados - from education to medical. Hard copies are also available from Harambee House headquarters.
