Directory of services
In February 2002, the Council responded to the need for publication of a Directory of Services for Persons with Disabilities.

This publication was made possible through the Canada Fund for Local Initiative and supported by the National Disabilities Unit. The main aim of the Directory is to ensure that, as far as possible, Persons with Disabilities and their carers are aware of, and have access to key services and organizations in the community.
The Directory provides information about professional services and organizations that have willingly acceded to the request to be included in this project. It is hoped that Persons with Disabilities, and their communities, will be encouraged to use these services to improve the quality of their lives. This important initiative not only breaks new ground in services to the community of persons with disabilities, it places great emphasis on educating society on their needs and abilities. This project also has the potential to advance the idea that, in time, all persons who are physically and mentally challenged will be meaningfully included into the mainstream, with equal opportunity for all.
