Multiple Sclerosis

This is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that can have mild to severe impacts as it disrupts communications between teh brain and different parts of the body.

No one knows for sure what causes MS but some researchers believe that it is an autoimmune disease where the immune system wrong identifies healthy tissue as "an intruder" and attacks it with a view to destroying it.

The first symptoms may appear between ages 20 to 40 and could be blurred vision or blindness in one eye. Most people with MS have muscle weakness in their extremities and difficulty with coordination and balance.

We have put together some references from reputable sources which should help you to better understand this disease. If you or a relative has MS, you should contact the local Multiple Sclerosis Society for assistance.
