Autism At first sight, you won't be able to tell that someone has autism. There are no physically distinguishing features. When someone is autistic, it means that their brains function differently to other people's brains. Austism causes them to behave differently and may lead you to think that autistic persons are rude, difficult, or naughty. They can have a hard time understanding what other people are saying and may not find the correct words to properly explain how they feel and what they want. Austim is not a life-threatening disease but it does alter one's life-style. There is no cure but there are treatments to help autistic people, their friends and relatives. Here are a number of reputable references from Barbados and other countries, that we have carefully selected, to help you better understand this condition.
