Strategic Goals

PEOPLE
Goal:  To build an effective team of staff and volunteers
Objectives:  

    * To continuously enhance the knowledge, skills and attributes of all team members.
    * To engender leadership skills in the team.
    * To develop a wider pool of professionals who are willing to do volunteer work on an as needed basis.

CLIENTS
Goal:  To effectively integrate persons with disabilities within our membership and the wider society into the community.
Objectives:  

    * To sensitise the public to the competencies and abilities of persons who are differently able.
    * To implement a programme of self-development for persons with disabilities to help them to achieve their maximum potential in society.
    * To encourage and facilitate joint participation between persons with disabilities and able-bodied persons in community projects and activities.
    * To proactively promote creation of equal employment opportunities for people who are differently able.

INFRASTRUCTURE
Goal:  

To ensure that our organisational structure, facilities and processes are always relevant and dynamic, thus facilitating operational excellence.
Objectives:  

    * To expand the organisation to include non-affiliate organisations and individuals in the work of the Council.
    * To keep our facilities upgraded to meet the needs of our clients.
    * To continuously improve mobility and access at large for persons with disabilities.
    * To continuously improve the Council's administrative processes ensuring more effectiveness in meeting our clients' need.

PUBLIC AWARENESS
Goal:  To sensitise and educate the public at large to the rights, needs and wants of persons with disabilities.
Objectives:  To effectively implement the following programmes:

    * FULLY ACCESSIBLE BARABDOS "FAB"
    * DISABILITY AWARENESS DAY "DAD"
    * UNFPA Supported Sexual Reproductive Health Programme
    * Disabled Parking ID
    * Justice Improvement Programme Secretariat supported "Justice for All" Project.
    * Annual Literary Competition for Schools
    * Accessible Transportation Service

FUNDING
Goals:  To access sufficient funding to effectively execute the programmes and strategies of the Council.
Objectives:  

    * Evolve the existing relationship with Government into a significant partnership.
    * Work closely with relevant funding agencies to maximise effectiveness of special projects.
    * Continue to promote traditional, self help fund raising efforts.
    * To embark on related revenue generating activities.
    * To continuously improve accountability with respect to appropriate use of funds as we strengthen partnerships.
