Mrs Phillips has had a long career in advocacy, Youth Work and Social Work. As a Social Work Manager, she supported families experiencing a variety of challenges and later became a Social Work lecturer and Course Director. After retirement because of her disability Boneta became a Non-Executive Director of a hospital where she held management responsibility for housing hundreds of Persons With Disabilities (PWD) into the community. Director -Elviston Maloney
Mr. Elviston Maloney an employee of the Barbados Association of the Blind and Deaf has held the position of supervisor for the pass seven years. During his seventeen-year-long stint, he has sewed on the board of directors three different occasions. His passionate love for community work among the disabled, particularly the blind, provided the opportunity to becoming fully involved at the administrative level with the National United Society of the Blind. He has held the following positions: President in 1987, and two consecutive terms from 2000 to 2004, the unenviable task of secretary from 2004 to 2006 and chairman of the education sub-committee. In addition to his diverse abilities, blind cricket has played a prominent role in his busy schedule. Elvis is currently a cricketer, vice-president and chairman of cricket operations committee of the Barbados Blind Cricket Association since its introduction to Barbados in 2003. Evidently, recognition of his invaluable contribution to organisations, has place him on the National Advisory Committee, which can enable him to make input towards the building of a better society for persons with disabilities. Director - Lasonta Corbin
In January 1997 I joined BARNOD and later that year was one of the founding members of the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Since then I have been actively involved in matters concerning the disabled, and have held posts on the boards of BARNOD, the Council and I am at present Treasurer to the MS Society. I am very keen to help further the interests of the disabled community in general, and wheelchair users in particular, who are still a misunderstood category of PWDs, hence my decision to stand for the post of Director.
